Eligibility also depends on meeting health, character, and English language requirements, and places are limited each year, meaning selection is not guaranteed

Parent Retirement residence allows parents of New Zealand citizens and residents to live in New Zealand on a long‑term basis where they can demonstrate financial independence. Eligibility is primarily based on meeting significant investment and income requirements, including investing funds in New Zealand for a set period, maintaining settlement funds, and having a minimum annual income, alongside standard health and character requirements.
