Vivienne Tam
Vivienne holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Conjoint) from the University of Auckland, majoring in Communications. She completed her Professional Legal Studies through the College of Law, and will be admitted to the bar in September 2026.
Vivienne has a particular interest in New Zealand’s immigration history and its relationship with Asian and Pacific nations. She has studied how historical ties continue to shape current policy, and the effects of migration on socio-politics, religion, and labour. Before joining Dalley Sundar, Vivienne worked with YouthLaw Aotearoa, where she helped plan and execute civic education events, and developed plain-language legal templates to support legal education and access to justice for young people. She also has practical insights into family law processes through her current role at a supervised contact centre, which facilitates contact sessions alongside the Family Court. This background informs her work at Dalley Sundar, where she continues to focus on the experiences of individuals navigating complex legal systems.
Outside of law, Vivienne has a background in marketing, photography, and styling. This includes work with HIKOCO, and freelance photography and costume design for fashion, film and TV. She is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, and enjoys reading in her spare time.
